Easter Calculus Problem

 In the Easter Bunny Egg Factory, they produce eggs at the rate of 3t2+2t+8 eggs (measured in thousands)/week, where t is the number of weeks. For those of you that like things in equation format, that means dE/dt=3t2+2t+8, where E is the number of eggs produced (in thousands).

  1. How many eggs are produced each year (they produce eggs for exactly 50 weeks per year)?
  2. Eggs are hidden at the rate of 10 per second. Rounded to the nearest hour, how many hours does it take to hide all those eggs??
  3. Using your rounded answer from part 2, how many bunnies need to be hired so that all the eggs are hidden in 6 hours?

Fun with calculus

A farmer is asking an engineer, a physicist and a mathematician to build the most efficient fence around his flock of sheep.

The engineer builds a square fence around the sheep and says “That’s the best I can do”.

The physicist wraps a fence around the equator and slowly shrinks it until it encounters the first sheep, then says “That’s the best I can do”.

The mathematician smirks and takes a meter-long length of fence, wraps it around himself and declares triumphantly “I define myself to be outside!”
