About the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST)
Each year, Florida administers the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) to assess student achievement in math. This statewide assessment, given multiple windows throughout the year, is aligned to the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking: Mathematics (B.E.S.T.).
Covering multi-digit operations, place value & number sense, fractions & decimals, measurement & unit conversion and more, the grade 4 math FAST uses multiple-choice, short-answer, and performance-based items to assess student understanding.
Students who practice with our exams will recognize the FAST format immediately — we match the real test in content, structure, and rigor.
About B.E.S.T. Math Standards
The Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking: Mathematics (B.E.S.T.) is Florida’s framework for math education. At the grade 4 math level, students are expected to master 6 major domains:
- Multi-Digit Operations — multiply and divide multi-digit numbers, solve multi-step word problems with remainders
- Place Value & Number Sense — read, write, and compare numbers up to one million and understand place-value structure
- Fractions & Decimals — add, subtract, and multiply fractions; understand decimal notation and compare decimals to hundredths
- Measurement & Unit Conversion — convert units of length, mass, volume, and time; solve measurement word problems
- Geometry & Angles — measure and draw angles, classify triangles and quadrilaterals, and identify lines of symmetry
- Factors & Multiples — find factor pairs, identify prime and composite numbers, and generate number patterns
The alignment between our Grade 4 Math books and Florida’s standards means students practice the skills they’ll actually be tested on.
