The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) measures Illinois students’ readiness in math. Administered March–April, it covers the full scope of the Illinois Learning Standards for Mathematics (ILS).

Across the grade 4 math IAR, students are tested on multi-digit operations, place value & number sense, fractions & decimals, measurement & unit conversion and related domains. The assessment combines multiple-choice, short-answer, and performance-based formats.
