About the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA)
As South Dakota’s official statewide math test, the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) is administered March–May and assesses student progress against the South Dakota Mathematics Standards (SD Standards).
For the grade 6 math portion, the SBA includes questions on ratios & proportions, the number system, expressions & equations, geometry, plus additional topics. Expect multiple-choice, short-answer, and performance-based question types.
Each practice test is modeled after the actual SBA — same topics, same types of questions, and the same level of challenge.
