About the New Mexico Measures of Student Success and Achievement (NM-MSSA)

The New Mexico Measures of Student Success and Achievement (NM-MSSA) is administered to New Mexico students March–May. It is the state’s primary measure of math achievement, aligned to the New Mexico Common Core State Standards: Mathematics (NM CCSS).

For the grade 8 math portion, the NM-MSSA includes questions on the number system, expressions & equations, functions, geometry, plus additional topics. Expect multiple-choice, short-answer, and performance-based question types.
