About the Smarter Balanced Assessment — Grade 10/11 Math (SBA)

The Smarter Balanced Assessment — Grade 10/11 Math (SBA) serves as Washington’s official measurement of Algebra 1 competency. Conducted March–June, it tests the standards set out in the Washington K-12 Learning Standards: Mathematics (WA Standards).

The Algebra 1 SBA tests students on foundations of algebra, linear equations & inequalities, introduction to functions, linear functions & graphing, systems of equations & inequalities, and more. Questions include multiple-choice, short-answer, and sometimes performance-based items.

Our tests are modeled on the SBA format, covering the same topics at the same difficulty level — the best preparation for test day.
