Administered April–May, the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program — Algebra 1 (MCAP) is Maryland’s key assessment for Algebra 1 skills. The assessment is built around the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards: Mathematics (MD CCRS).

The Algebra 1 MCAP tests students on foundations of algebra, linear equations & inequalities, introduction to functions, linear functions & graphing, systems of equations & inequalities, and more. Questions include multiple-choice, short-answer, and sometimes performance-based items.
